when we spend so many years in school we are very much being indoctrinated with the idea that knowledge is awesome, the more the better! it doesnt even matter if the subject is interesting or useful, its always great to know things. but a couple of years ago i read this old swedish book by a doctor on sympathetic medicine (folk medicine) and it really convinced me that it can be quite the opposite. he researched the effectiveness of folk medicine among farmers (then uneducated illiterate people) and found that their ways were often more effective and less dangerous than his fellow educated doctor colleagues ways. if i remember correctly he concluded that this had to do with faith/willpower, which is much stronger among people who arent taught that everything can be scientifically explained. a scholarly mind is basically poisoned.
so thats when i decided that knowledge kinda sucks and i will probably be better off researching stuff as little as possible. i definitely already know enough!!

interesting! i've been very against that feeling of being indoctrinated, i feel like it's something that everyone around me is doing especially young people - following some school of thought for political and societal and healthcare problems and then everyone is just regurgitating the same things and whenever u say smth u get hit with this knee jerk response(for example when i say abt some old man poet i get hit with whatever cancellable thing he did one day and it's like. do i care? and it also feels like such a fun sponge reply too. same goes if u say that u feel ill everyone will always be like GO TO THE DOCTOR RIGHT NOW!!111 and me and u both know that's not always what u want or need to do :/// feels like this kinda knowledge makes ppl actualy think less
